According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, 408,400 tourist entries were recorded in April 2018, about 17% more than April 2017. In the period January- April 2018, about 1.36 million tourist entries were recorded, 25% increase on the same period last year. Revenue from tourism in April reached about NIS 2.166 billion.

Tourism Minister Yariv Levin: “We close yet another month with a continuous increase in incoming tourism and we continue forward with this upward trend. This is the result of intensive marketing activities and we witnessed an example of this just a few days ago when we hosted the events in Israel surrounding the Giro d’Italia. We ran a huge marketing blitz in the target countries and we estimate that, to date, over half a billion people around the world in different countries have been exposed to the ministry’s campaign within the context of the Giro.”

There was a 17% increase in tourist entries in April 2018 as compared to 2017 and 61% increase on April 2016.

  • 353,800 tourist entries were by air, an increase of 13% on 2017 and 54% on April 2016.
  • 54,700 tourists arrived via the land crossings, 17% more than in April 2017 and 91% more than in 2016.
  • 24,400 arrived as day visitors in April, 27% increase in April 2017 and 9% more than in 2016.

In January- April 2018, about 1.36 million tourist entries were recorded, an increase of 25% on the same period in 2017 (1.1 million) and 60% more than in 2016. Since the beginning of the year, tourism has injected more than NIS 7 billion into the Israeli economy.
