As reported on Calcalistech.com, low-cost airline Wizz Air Holdings PLC is launching two new winter routes connecting Israel’s Red Sea beach town Eilat with Budapest and Sofia, the company announced. The new routes will operate twice a week beginning in mid-November. Wizz Air already operates winter routes from Eilat’s Ovda airport to London, Vienna, Bucharest, Riga, and Warsaw. Including the new routes, Wizz Air operates flights from Israel to 25 destinations in nine countries.
Last month, Israel inaugurated Ramon international airport, which can house up to 60 parked airplanes and is scheduled to replace Ovda early next year. Other airlines to operate winter flights to and from Eilat include German carrier Lufthansa AG, Spanish airline Air Europa Líneas Aéreas, and low-cost carriers Ryanair DAC and Transavia Airlines CV.
