Writing in the New York Times, Amy Tara Koch focuses on Jerusalem’s city center and shows how it has “transformed into a vibrant scene, with youthful, often tattooed habitués offering a curious juxtaposition to the religious pilgrims roaming the Holy City… In this sprawling labyrinth, artisan beer halls, tapas and falafel stands, and upscale restaurants open their graffiti-adorned garage-style doors to welcome the city’s multi-culti cool kids.”
In her list, Tara Koch mentions the café Hamiffal at Lorenzo House Cultural Center, the 1920s-inspired cocktail bar Gatsby, trendy fashion boutique Sofia, Ottoman-era villa turned 24-room boutique hotel the Villa Brown Jerusalem, and Machane Yehuda Market restaurant Machneyuda.
