“The new agreement will open up new directions for cooperation between the countries. The relationship between Israel and Georgia is strong, it is getting tighter over the years in all areas, in culture, economy and now also in tourism. The Israelis love to visit Georgia and we strive to see an increase in tourism coming from them”.

As part of the agreement, the parties undertook to promote cooperation in the fields of tourism, emphasizing cooperation between the tourism organizations of the two countries, between tourism experts, tour operators, travel agents, representatives from the private sector and within the framework of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

After signing the agreement, the ministers held a working meeting and discussed the challenges to promote mutual tourism, alongside the opportunities.

Minister of Tourism Haim Katz: “The new agreement will open up new directions for cooperation between the countries. The relationship between Israel and Georgia is strong, it is getting tighter over the years in all areas, in culture, economy and now also in tourism. The Israelis love to visit Georgia and we strive to see an increase in tourism coming from them”.

Georgia’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili: “Our cooperation with our friends is conducted according to the principle that all parties are satisfied. There is a large population segment of Georgians who wish to come to Israel. Together we will strengthen tourism ties and increase the number of tourists, with you and us”.

In accordance with the signed agreement, the countries will strive to promote joint programs and exchange knowledge and best practices, tourism marketing materials and information on tourism investments. In addition, the parties will be allowed to encourage tourism in the historical and cultural sites related to the heritage of the Georgian and Jewish peoples.

The agreement will be valid for five years and will be automatically renewed.
