“The reopening of Metaylim Metula Hotel is a particularly moving moment for all of us”

Following extensive renovations, the Metaylim Metula Hotel is set to fully reopen its doors to guests on December 14, just in time for the Hanukkah holiday. The reopening marks a significant moment of resilience for the Northern Galilee region, symbolizing the return to life and tourism in Israel’s picturesque north.

The historic 100-year-old hotel, owned by the Goldberg family (one of Metula’s first families), was directly hit by a Hezbollah missile in April 2024 during the “Iron Swords” war. Fortunately, no one was harmed, but the upper and lower floors of the structure sustained significant damage.

The hotel has undergone a comprehensive renovation at an investment of over 3 million ILS. This is the second major upgrade in recent years, following a full design refurbishment in 2020 that maintained its historical authenticity.

The road to reopening was lengthy, involving complex dealings with the Property Tax Authority and restoration work that included refreshing the main street of the Moshava. Adding to the hotel’s powerful story, the manager, who was called up for reserve duty on the morning of October 7, 2023, has now been released and is back leading the team to bring the place back to life.

“The reopening of Metaylim Metula Hotel is a particularly moving moment for all of us”, says Bat-Hen Yeshua, CEO of Metaylim Hotels. “This hotel is a symbol of steadfastness, northern resilience, and a belief in an Israeli way of life connected to the land, nature, and people. After everything we have been through, seeing guests walking through the door again is a dream come true”.

The hotel offers a warm, intimate, and nostalgic hospitality experience, featuring 27 beautifully designed rooms, including four holiday apartments and seven rooms with balconies.

Guests can enjoy a fresh, personalized breakfast in the dining room, which offers stunning, peaceful views of Mount Hermon and the Metula orchards. The hotel continues the chain’s spirit of connecting guests to the nature, attractions, restaurants, and hiking trails of the Upper Galilee.
