In what can only be viewed as a clear sign of great relations between Ethiopia and Israel and a warm feeling towards Israel, Ethiopian Airlines has named its new Boeing Dreamliner 787 “Tel Aviv.”

The aircraft, carrying about 300 passengers, was received at a festive ceremony in Ben Gurion Airport and attended by many distinguished participants such as Ethiopian Airlines staff, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Israel, Tel Aviv’s Mayor  Ron Huldai and Ben Gurion Airport staff.

Ethiopian Airlines operates two daily flights and 14 weekly flights on the direct line from Tel Aviv to Addis Ababa, as well as connecting to more than 120 destinations on five continents such as Africa, Asia, North & South America and Europe. Ethiopian Airlines offers Israeli travelers a particularly convenient and easy access to a variety of unique destinations around the world including about 62 destinations in Africa as well as of course offering African travelers an easy route to Israel.

Bilan Arpain, the Israel region manager, said, “This is a special day and an important milestone for Ethiopian Airlines which marks more than 23 years of successful operations in Israel. I am honored to be the manager to receive this unique aircraft. The fact that Ethiopian Airlines has named a new Dreamliner aircraft after the city of Tel Aviv signifies the great and special importance that the airline gives to the destination, to Israel, the local market, the direct line from Tel Aviv and the loyal Israeli passengers. We believe in the Israeli market and intend to increase our operations.”
