The Israel Airports Authority has reported a 665 percent increase in passenger traffic recorded at Haifa Airport, which operates international flights to and from destinations in Greece – Athens, Larnaca, Rhodes and Kos, and well as flights between Haifa and paphos (Cyorus), and domestic flights. In addition, a 325 percent rise was recorded this July compared to July 2016 from a total of 299 flights in 2017.


According to a proposal by Israel Minister of Transport Israel Katz, the current 1,300-meter-long runway track will be extended to 1,600 meters, permitting aircraft with a capacity of up to 120 passengers to take off and land. In addition, a duty-free complex selling cosmetics, perfumes, alcoholic beverages, electronic equipment and other goods is to be inaugurated.
