In “normal” years, the winter season in Israel is considered drowsy. Many Israelis prefer to spend their vacation money overseas, whether due to the contagious Christmas atmosphere, the hot New Year’s Eve celebrations and the extreme ski trips that Europe and the rest of the world offer in the cold season.
Thus, a situation has arisen in which hoteliers in the country are forced to think outside the box of the “all-inclusive”, pool and buffet and attract tourists to this season as well. Year after year the efforts are getting better and bigger, and this year it seems like it’s going to pay off in both directions more than ever, and thanks to the Omicron strain.
For example, the Dan hotel chain offers winter weekends with content. What it means? Mostly a combination of culture and culinary. Bringing familiar singers to a live performance at the hotel and a famous chef who will connect with the hotel chef and prepare guests completely different dishes from the usual dining room dishes.
About two weeks ago, he was the chef of the acclaimed OCD restaurant in Tel Aviv, Raz Rahav, who teamed up with chef Daniel Fogel at the Dan Caesarea Hotel. Together they created for the hotel guests a dinner that caused quite a few eyebrows raises, alongside lifting the dishes close to the eye and nose to understand what it was all about.
Afterwards, it was the singers Dana Berger and Hemi Rodner who made the guests happy with a lunch performance on the wide lawn. In between, the hotel offered activities for children such as a workshop for making marzipan decorations and a magic show, and for adults – a guitar performance and a lecture by Chef Rahav alongside the culinary man, David Kishka.
What is on the plan?
The Dan Carmel Hotel will also host a “content weekend” on January 27-29, 2022. The accommodation will include a guest chef and a performance by Keren Peles and Jane Bordeaux at the hotel.
At the Dan Caesarea Hotel, Valentines will celebrate with a performance by Keren Ann and Assaf Amdursky, with chef Sharon Cohen from the sought-after Shiloh restaurant in Tel Aviv. This will happen on 17-18.2.2022.
Hof Nachsholim Boutique Hotel presents this year: “Winter COOL”. Here the package offered refers to holidays until 24.2.2022 and does not include weekends.
In Israel-Canada hotels offer Nofan Gonen guests in January-February attractions for activities in the north. For example, a double entry to the Hula Reed that includes two options: Guided tour on bicycles / electric vehicles or guided tour in the hiding cart. In addition, as part of the entrance ticket visitors are invited to an activity at the Agmon Visitor Center.
The Galilion Hotel – housed in the Agmon Hahula Nature and Birding Park, offers a number of winter packages – from December to the end of February 2022.
Hotel Bobo, the new hotel in the Brown Hotel collection in Tel Aviv, we found a package that includes bed, breakfast and a stand-up performance by Little Schwartz, which takes place in the conference and event hall at the hotel on January 21, 2022.
The King David Hotel in Jerusalem offers performances by Shalom Hanoch and Orit Shahaf, the Jewish soloist, along with a Jerusalem-style hamara meal with chef Roi Entebi, on 13-15.1.2022. Before there will be a cocktail with a live jazz show.
The Royal Beach Eilat, of the Isrotel chain, is also celebrating winter and chamber music with the “Isrotel Classic Chamber Festival”. Three days of classical music led by Raanana Symphony, which will host Israeli artists alongside leading international artists. As part of the festival, a unique concert combining gastronomy and classical music will be presented for the first time.
