The museum is based within a house built by the Schulman family in 1887 which formed one of the first 48 houses in the Neve Tzedek area, and the permanent exhibition showcases the works of Gutman, an Israeli painter, sculptor and author, which were donated by his family. The museum now provides a headset for self-guided audio tours in Hebrew, English and French, offering information and stories behind the works on display.
