“Our job is to highlight and invest in sites in Israel that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Marketing and investing in the uniqueness that the country has to offer, world heritage sites like Tel Megiddo, will attract many tourists to the country.
In a festive ceremony in the Megiddo National Park, Minister of Tourism, Yoel Razvozov, inaugurated the new visitor center that was built there with the support of the Ministry of Tourism. After the ceremony, Minister of Tourism cut the rope for the official opening of the center, in which 7 million ILS were invested.
Also present at the ceremony were the Head of the Megiddo Regional Council, Mr. Itzik Holevsky, the Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Brigadier General (ret.) Dani Shahar, the Director General of the Nature and Parks Authority, Ms. Raya Shurki, and the Director General of the Government Tourism Company, Mr. Idan Moalem.
After 45 years in which a very basic exhibition was presented in the National Park, now the 6,000 years of history in the archaeological site are presented in the center with the help of innovative video technologies. As a reminder, in 2005 the site was recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

In this way, and through the development of additional tourism infrastructure all over the country, we will be able to move towards The goal we set: 10 million tourists in Israel per year by the year 2030. These tourists will bring a lot of money and livelihood to the residents of the area to the entire Israeli economy”.
Head of the Megiddo Regional Council Itzik Holevsky: “The strategic location of Tel Megiddo and the water sources around it gave it the power that made the place a very important city for thousands of years. We at Megiddo believe in a unique project that will continue the history of the place and are confident in the tremendous potential hidden in this area and are promoting a huge strategic project that includes Tel Megiddo, the early Christian mosaic floor around which we will build a tourism project after the construction of the river, and the Nahal Kaini park which we are already promoting from planning to execution. An important project for tourism, the economy, growth, employment and history and will dramatically change the entire region”.
