The Cave of Zedekiah, located below the Old City of Jerusalem, is a captivating archaeological site with a rich history. The cave, which was closed for three years for renovations and upgrades, reopened its doors on August 1, 2023. The renovation work was funded by the Ministry of Jerusalem and Israel Tradition and carried out by the East Jerusalem Development Company.
The mysterious cave of Jerusalem now offers the “Secrets under the Walls” vision, which accompanies travelers throughout the tour. The vision is projected at various stations along the route and on the dark walls of the cave. The vision tells the story of a city and a people, to the Mesopotamian world of the First Temple period, the legends and myths of the Second Temple period.
In the depths of the cave you can also see the mythological cherub from the Ark of the Covenant, the legendary “dill worm” with the help of which the stones of Solomon’s temple were carved, the spring that flows from its depths, and also members of a secret order who believe that from here the first “headstone” in history was carved.
Sunday to Thursday between 9:00 and 17:00, on Friday the site is closed, on Saturday a normal tour without a vision will be possible.
