In October 2022, 368,700 visitor arrivals to Israel were recorded, of which 333,500 were tourist arrivals, according to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics. This is a monthly record for 2022, but still a low number compared to the corresponding period in 2019, when 485 thousand arrivals were recorded, of which 447.1 thousand were tourist arrivals. 27.3% of the tourists who entered Israel in October were from the United States (91 thousand), and it continues to be the country from which the highest number of tourists enter Israel.

Despite the peak in October, the number of people entering Israel in the last three months has decreased on average to the three months before them. In the last three months, August – October 2022, there was an increase in arrivals of 1.4% on average every month only, and 207.9 thousand arrivals were recorded on average per month, while in the three months before them, May – July 2022, there was an increase of 6.3% on average every month and 223.7 thousand Average visits per month.

Even with an annual retirement, the figures for tourist arrivals are still low compared to 2019 – which was a record year for tourism entering Israel. From January to October 2022, only 2.2 visitors entered Israel, about half of the number of visitors who entered in the corresponding period in 2019 (about 4 million).

The Hotel Association emphasizes that despite the increase, there is, in their opinion, investment in attracting tourists to Israel through campaigns. “According to the CBS data, a monthly record number of tourists entered Israel in October since the beginning of the year. At the same time, this is still a 25% decrease compared to October 2019. The Hotel Association reiterates that it is necessary to invest in an international campaign to market Israel in the world that will promote and increase the arrival of tourists”.
