April 2018 ended with close to 2 million passengers at Ben-Gurion Airport, of which 1.87 passengers on international flights increased by 8% in international passenger traffic. The highest increase in passenger traffic in April was recorded by the airlines “RyanAir”, “EasyJet” and “Wizz Air”, which proves the low-cost flights provide significant growth following the Open Skies reform. In 2019, Ben-Gurion Airport will enter among the world’s largest airports category (with over 25 million passengers per year): The Open Sky reform has transformed Ben Gurion Airport over the past five years from a small airport category to among the world’s largest airports. This year, passenger traffic on international flights at Ben Gurion Airport will cross the threshold of 23 million passengers a year. This summer, the number of international flights to Israel is expected to increase by 14%.
