Thanks to the overnight stays of the evacuees, the number of overnight stays in tourist hotels in Israel since the beginning of the year in January-August amounts to 16 million. This is compared to 16.9 million in January-August 2023.

Of this figure, 14.7 million overnight stays were for Israelis compared to 10.4 million overnight stays in January-August last year. Tourist overnight stays amounted to only 1.4 million compared to 6.5 million in the corresponding period in 2023.

An interesting figure is the occupancy of the rooms which amounted to 64% during this period, similar to January-August 2023.

In the month of August, Israeli hotel stays totaled about 2.2 million, compared to about 2 million in August last year. Tourist overnight stays amounted to only 163 thousand tourist overnight stays, compared to 718 thousand in August 2023. Room occupancy in August amounted to 66% compared to 69% in August 2023.

You can see the effect of the war on the occupancy of the rooms in August. Occupancy in Eilat in August amounted to about 87%, compared to 89.6% in August last year, a similar figure.

In Tel Aviv the occupancy of the rooms amounted to only 56% compared to 70.4% in the corresponding period last year, in Jerusalem the occupancy amounted to only 48.8% compared to 55.5% in August 2023.

In Haifa, the room occupancy in August amounted to 69.6% compared to 65.5% in August 2023, in the Dead Sea the room occupancy was 67% compared to 60% in August last year.

Since the beginning of the year, occupancy in Jerusalem stood at 44.8% compared to 62.6% in the corresponding period last year, and in the northern district 67.9% compared to 57.9%.

In the Haifa district, occupancy stood at 80.4% compared to 59.2% in the corresponding period last year.

In the Central District the occupancy was 71.3% compared to 60.1% in January-August 2023, and in the Tel Aviv District the occupancy was 59.8% compared to 64.7% last year.

The southern district with 75.2% compared to 68.5% in the corresponding period, January-August 2023.
