Ginosar, Israel – A bold new chapter in Israel’s clean energy journey is underway as Francis Eco Sailing launches Corazine—the first-ever commercial electric boat to operate in Israel—on the iconic Sea of Galilee. The launch follows the recent issuance of a sailing license from Israel’s Ministry of Transport, marking a historic turning point for the region’s maritime sector.

While Israel has embraced electric vehicles on its roads, the maritime industry has remained largely anchored in the past—dominated by diesel-powered boats and outdated technologies. Francis Eco Sailing, a newly established subsidiary of the veteran maritime tourism company Francis Sailing, is set to change that narrative with a mission of bringing the electric revolution from the roads to the sea, electrifying maritime vessels and reducing the environmental toll on one of the country’s most vital natural resources.

“This isn’t just another boat launch—it’s a milestone for clean transportation in Israel,” said Moshe Francis, co-founder of Francis Eco Sailing and a 30-year industry expert. “The Sea of Galilee is a national treasure, and we believe tourism here should be part of the solution—not the problem. With Corazine, we are making sustainable sailing a reality”.

About the Vessel

Named after the ancient village of Corazine, located on the northern shores of the Sea of Galilee, the vessel is designed for group tourism with a focus on international pilgrims visiting the region. However, its appeal is much broader, promising a quiet, clean, and modern sailing experience for a wide variety of visitors.

  • Length: 21 meters
  • Width: 5 meters
  • Engines: Two electric motors, 100 horsepower each
  • Top Speed: 12 knots
  • Cruising Range: 18 hours at 7 knots
  • Passenger Capacity: 55 (initially), expanding to 100 in future phases

“Corazine” is more than a boat—it’s a floating symbol of where the industry is headed,” added Nir Lahav, CEO of Francis Eco Sailing. “It merges high-performance electric propulsion with zero-emission operation. No smoke, no noise, no oil in the water. Just pure, silent movement that enhances the onboard experience while protecting the natural beauty around us”.

Pioneering the Future of Clean Tourism

Francis Eco Sailing plans to expand its electric fleet to four vessels by the end of 2026, as part of a broader vision to transform the Sea of Galilee into a model for sustainable tourism and low-impact marine transportation.

The company is also investing heavily in staff training and guest experience, ensuring that every journey aboard an Eco Sailing vessel is not only environmentally responsible, but also world-class in service and comfort.

“We’re not just electrifying boats—we’re reimagining what tourism can look like in the 21st century,” Lahav said. “This is the future of water travel: quiet, clean, and unforgettable.”
